Embellish Knit Month @ Grosgrain

Kathleen Francis' blog, grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com, is such a sewing inspiration.  Through the end of last year, she posted her "Embellish Knit Month" creations, taking inspiration from high street brands and her own imagination.  Aren't they gorgeous?

I was hoping to use some of her fabulous ideas for Christmas presents, but that completely fell through due primarily to laziness.  We'll see whether I continue to get inspired, with all the distractions of writing and wedding planning going on.

Shoe Challenge - Day 1

I figured a little touch of red was perfect for Valentine's Day.  These are Lela Rose for Payless, and I picked them up when they went on sale in December.  I had to order them from www.payless.com, since unfortch, the Payless stores of southwestern Michigan are somewhat limited in their in-store stock.  Payless does have this awesome thing wherein you can have the shoes delivered to your nearest store for free; the girls were so cute when I picked up my shoes - they made me show them off.

Check out all those shoe boxes put away again!

No big events for the holiday - we did dinner on the weekend when J was in town.  I stuck to my old basic of navy tee and this gorge Lauren Moffatt skirt.  It was definitely nice to have sunny weather today, but the bare legs are probably pushing it.  I hate wearing tights inside the apartment, though, so this is the picture I got.

Aren't they pretty?

Shoes!!

I've been reading Shoperwoman for more than a year, and it's great. A) I love shoes (duh) and it's always fun to see what turns up on the blog, B) she has amazing taste, and I'm always so jealous of her shoe collection, C) she's hysterical, and tons of fun to read. So...when she proposed her Shoeper Shoe Challenge, how could I not jump on board?

To be honest, it took a bit to get started. I'm a bit of a procrastinator - it goes with being transiently obsessive. But my shoe collection badly needed a paring down, and the Challenge was the perfect excuse!
They barely fit in the living room.  Geesh.

Here's how it works - from Feb 14 2011 to Feb 14 2012, all participants have to wear every pair of shoes in their collection. Any shoes left unworn at the end of the year are for the bin, or Goodwill. (Read more about the challenge here.)

Here's the breakdown of my shoe collection:

Do you get obsessed?

Hi! My name is El and I have a problem - a major short-attention span. Heh. Short-term obsessions are my stock-and-trade, but of course, there are those wonderful loves that continually permeate our lives, and stick around through it all. I'm here to document the fluctuations of my interests, both transient and permanent. I hope you enjoy the random vagaries of my mind.
